About the role

Tech Mahindra Hyderabad is hiring 2024-2026 freshers and 1-year-experience engineers for an Istio Service Mesh DevOps trainee track — implementing zero-trust microservice networking for Fortune-500 telecom and banking clients.

Service Mesh is the #1 production Kubernetes pattern for 2026, and Istio (with Envoy) is the most-deployed implementation. Tech Mahindra's Hyderabad Cloud-Native practice is hiring freshers for a 12-week paid bootcamp covering Istio architecture (control plane, data plane); installation patterns (sidecar, ambient mesh); VirtualService and DestinationRule authoring; mTLS and zero-trust networking; OPA policy enforcement; observability with Kiali, Jaeger, and Prometheus; multi-cluster mesh; comparison with Linkerd and Cilium Service Mesh; and eBPF-based dataplane optimisation.

Responsibilities

Install and configure Istio on client EKS, AKS and GKE clusters. Author VirtualServices, DestinationRules, Gateways for microservices. Implement mTLS between all services. Build OPA policies for service-to-service authorisation. Tune Envoy sidecar resource usage. Investigate mesh-related production incidents.

Requirements & qualifications

BE / BTech / MCA passout 2024-2026 with 70%+. Solid Kubernetes basics (Pods, Services, Deployments, Ingress). Linux networking comfort. One programming language (Go preferred for Istio plugin work). Curiosity about distributed-systems networking.
