Domain-track intern projects are scoped around supporting a specific client deliverable — building a Power BI dashboard for a banking client's compliance reporting, contributing to a Salesforce Apex codebase for a healthcare client's patient-management system, writing test automation in Selenium / Cypress for a retail client's e-commerce platform. The stipend for the Domain track is INR 20,000 to 35,000 per month depending on degree and location, and the PPO conversion leads to the standard Project Engineer band at TCS.
The day-to-day during a TCS internship is meaningfully different from a product-company internship. The work is more delivery-oriented and less platform-oriented — the intern is contributing to a client deliverable that has a real production date, a real client stakeholder, and real consequences if the deliverable slips. This is genuinely good for early-career engineering muscle because it forces the intern to think about deadlines, client communication, and the operational realities of enterprise IT. The trade-off is that the technology stack is constrained by what the client uses (which is often older than what an intern would experience at a product company), and the freedom to choose your own approach is meaningfully smaller than at a product-company internship.
The technical bar at the application stage is the TCS National Qualifier Test (NQT).
