Salesforce Summer Software Engineer Intern — Hyderabad / Bangalore (2026)
Key skills
About the role
Salesforce's Summer 2026 Software Engineering Internship across Hyderabad and Bangalore — 10-12 weeks of real engineering on the Customer 360 CRM platform, AI-driven Einstein services, and the Lightning platform. Strong stipend and PPO pipeline.
Salesforce's Summer 2026 Software Engineer Internship is one of the more under-rated technical internships in the Indian product-company recruiting market — under-rated because Salesforce's brand outside the engineering community is associated more with sales operations than with hard engineering. Inside the engineering community, however, Salesforce India's Hyderabad (Hi-Tech City) and Bangalore (Cessna Business Park) campuses are genuinely strong technical centres of gravity. The Hyderabad campus is the global engineering home of the Marketing Cloud, parts of the Service Cloud and a meaningful portion of the Einstein AI / GenAI platform; the Bangalore campus hosts the core platform team, MuleSoft, Tableau and several of the Lightning component framework teams. Intern projects in 2026 routinely contribute to the actual product roadmap and ship to GA in the Spring or Summer release.
The internship is a 10 to 12 week summer programme running May through July 2026, with onboarding the first week of May and the demo day in late July. Interns are matched to a specific team after the offer based on resume, project portfolio and stated technical interest. The compensation package for the Indian intern cohort sits at the top end of the Indian internship market — INR 80,000 to INR 120,000+ per month for the Bachelor's track, plus accommodation in a partner-managed apartment for the duration, daily on-campus meals (Salesforce's Hyderabad campus has a particularly well-regarded cafeteria), shuttle transport, and access to the standard Salesforce employee benefits including the Ohana culture programme.
Day-to-day work is structured around a single clearly scoped intern project owned by the intern under the mentorship of a senior engineer. The first two weeks are onboarding to Salesforce's internal tooling — Hyperforce, the proprietary CI/CD pipeline, the internal code review system, the Slack workspace, and the company's specific testing and release-train workflow. Weeks three through ten are execution, where the intern writes Apex, Java, JavaScript or Lightning Web Component code as appropriate for the team. The metadata-heavy nature of the Salesforce platform means interns spend meaningful time writing declarative configuration alongside imperative code; this is genuinely good for early-career engineering muscle because it forces the intern to think carefully about data modelling and API design.
The technical bar is meaningful. The Salesforce intern interview loop is three rounds: a 60-minute coding screen on a shared platform (LeetCode-medium difficulty, two problems with a focus on clean code and edge cases), a system design round at the intern level (design a simple cache, a rate limiter, a message queue), and a behavioural and culture round where the interviewer probes alignment with Salesforce's stated values — Trust, Customer Success, Innovation and Equality. The behavioural round is treated more seriously at Salesforce than at most other product companies; candidates who can speak credibly about a time they put a customer's interests above their own consistently outperform candidates who treat it as a checkbox.
The technology stack varies by team. The core platform team writes Java and Apex; the front-end teams write JavaScript and Lightning Web Components; the Einstein AI team writes Python with PyTorch and uses the company's internal LLM serving infrastructure. Familiarity with at least one of Java, JavaScript or Python is expected; familiarity with all three is a strong signal. The platform's metadata-driven architecture is unusual and takes a couple of weeks to get used to — Salesforce explicitly does not expect interns to come in fluent in Apex, but the strongest interns ramp on it quickly using Trailhead (Salesforce's free learning platform) before day one.
The PPO conversion rate at Salesforce India for the intern cohort sits between 50% and 70% depending on team and intern performance. The new-grad SDE offer is at the top end of the Indian product-company range — INR 24 to 32 lakh total annual including the equity grant, which is paid in restricted stock units vesting over four years on the standard cliff-and-quarterly schedule. The Salesforce equity component is genuinely meaningful in the new-grad package, given the company's enterprise-software focused stock performance over the multi-year holding period.
For candidates applying now, the practical priorities are: submit the application via the Salesforce Careers portal (Workday-based), choose the Hyderabad or Bangalore preference deliberately on the application form, and prepare for the three-round loop with two weeks of LeetCode-medium practice, a half-week of intern-level system design (the "Grokking System Design Interview" introductory chapter is sufficient), and a Trailhead "Salesforce Platform Developer I" badge if time permits — the badge is free, public, and signals seriousness about the company specifically.
Responsibilities
Own a clearly scoped intern project end-to-end. Write Apex, Java, JavaScript or Python code per team. Contribute to the metadata-driven configuration alongside imperative code. Participate in sprint planning, code reviews and the team's release train. Demo the project at the late-July intern showcase. Document design choices and write tests for every change.
Requirements & qualifications
Pursuing B.Tech / B.E / M.Tech in Computer Science or related field with 2026 or 2027 graduation. Strong fundamentals in data structures and algorithms (LeetCode-medium proficiency). Working knowledge of at least one of Java, JavaScript or Python. Comfortable with REST APIs, Git, and basic SQL. Strong written and spoken English.
Why this role in 2026
Top-tier Indian product-company internship with a real engineering culture, ₹80k-1.2L+ monthly stipend, free housing and meals, and a 50-70% PPO conversion rate into a new-grad SDE role at ₹24-32 LPA including meaningful equity.
Application tips
Apply via Salesforce Careers (Workday). Choose Hyderabad or Bangalore preference deliberately. Earn the free Trailhead 'Salesforce Platform Developer I' badge before the interview — public, signals seriousness. Tailor the resume to the metadata-driven, customer-success themes that Salesforce values.
Interview preparation
Three rounds: 60-minute coding screen (LeetCode-medium, two problems), intern-level system design (cache, rate limiter, message queue), behavioural round on Salesforce's four core values (Trust, Customer Success, Innovation, Equality). Practise a STAR-format story for each value.
Career growth
Intern → New Grad SDE (PPO at 50-70%, ₹24-32 LPA total comp) → SMTS / Senior MTS (year 2-3) → Lead MTS (year 4-5). Strong external market for Salesforce alumni at fintech, SaaS and other product companies at every level.
Company & benefits
Stipend ₹80k-1.2L+/month, fully furnished housing for the duration, daily campus cafeteria meals, shuttle transport, on-campus gym, paid Trailhead certifications, and access to Salesforce's Ohana culture programme.
