Responsibilities

Manage container orchestration (Kubernetes and Amazon ECS) and infrastructure automation for Roku's streaming platform, provisioning the AWS estate as code with Terraform and configuration via Ansible. Build CI/CD pipelines and observability stacks (metrics, logs, traces) so that services for a global streaming audience deploy safely and are deeply instrumented. Apply SRE principles for high-availability streaming services: SLOs, error budgets, capacity planning, autoscaling, and progressive-delivery patterns (canary, blue-green) often via a service mesh (Istio / Linkerd). Work on networking, security and scaling at global traffic levels — CDN / edge interaction, load balancing, multi-region resilience and cost efficiency. Automate operational toil with Go and / or Python tooling, run blameless post-incident reviews, and own on-call for critical services. Partner with product and platform teams to harden microservices and improve reliability across the streaming stack.

Requirements & qualifications

5+ years of DevOps / SRE / Platform Engineering experience, with strong production Kubernetes (and / or ECS) and AWS. Infrastructure-as-code with Terraform and configuration management with Ansible. CI/CD pipeline ownership and observability stack experience (Prometheus, Grafana, logging, tracing). SRE fundamentals: SLOs, error budgets, capacity planning, incident response at scale. Service-mesh experience (Istio / Linkerd) and solid networking knowledge are strong pluses. Programming in Go and / or Python at automation-quality level. Experience operating high-traffic, globally-distributed services is highly valued. Bachelor's in CS / IT or equivalent; relevant cloud / Kubernetes certifications a plus.
