About this role and the team at Quest Diagnostics. Site Reliability Engineer II with a performance-engineering focus for Quest Diagnostics' healthcare platforms in Hyderabad — ensure reliability and performance of cloud-native apps on Azure / AWS with Kubernetes, Terraform IaC and deep APM (Dynatrace) observability. 4+ years, hybrid Hyderabad, INR 20-38 LPA band. This listing on cloudsoftsol.com is curated for engineers in India who are actively interviewing for senior cloud, DevOps, SRE and platform-engineering roles. The role is permanent / full-time, hybrid, and the salary band reflects market rates in Hyderabad as of mid-2026 (confirmed at the offer stage). If you are seeking a multi-year career platform rather than a stop-gap, this listing rewards depth — read the responsibilities and requirements below carefully and tailor your application to the specifics. Responsibilities

Design and continuously optimise the performance of cloud-native healthcare applications running on Azure and AWS — profiling latency, throughput and resource efficiency end to end, from the JVM / runtime through Kubernetes scheduling down to the database and network. Manage container orchestration with Kubernetes (AKS / EKS): implement horizontal and vertical autoscaling, right-size requests and limits, tune node pools, and remove the resource waste that quietly inflates cloud bills and degrades tail latency. Provision and configure infrastructure with Terraform (and CloudFormation where the estate requires it) — reusable modules, remote state per environment, and plan reviews — so that performance-relevant configuration is codified and reproducible rather than hand-tuned. Build comprehensive observability and application-performance monitoring using Dynatrace and complementary APM / metrics tooling, instrumenting services so that a regression is caught by a dashboard or alert long before a clinician or patient notices. Lead performance testing and capacity planning: design and run load, stress and soak tests, model peak-demand scenarios, and produce capacity forecasts that keep the platform ahead of growth without over-provisioning. Drive root-cause analysis for performance incidents and reliability events, applying SRE practices — error budgets, on-call rotation, blameless post-mortems — and automate the remediation so the same incident cannot recur silently. Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations (HIPAA and related controls) and security best practices throughout — data protection, access controls, audit trails — because the systems handle sensitive diagnostic information. Partner with development teams to bake performance and reliability into the design phase: review architectures for scalability, advise on caching and async patterns, and shift performance left into CI with automated regression gates. Continuously reduce toil through automation — self-service performance dashboards, automated baseline comparisons in pipelines, and scripted capacity reports — so engineering time goes to engineering, not repetition.

Requirements & qualifications

4+ years in Site Reliability Engineering and / or performance engineering for cloud-native, production systems. Hands-on Kubernetes (AKS or EKS) including autoscaling, resource tuning and troubleshooting under load. Terraform (and / or CloudFormation) for infrastructure provisioning and configuration as code. Deep observability / APM experience — Dynatrace strongly preferred, or comparable (AppDynamics, New Relic, Datadog) — plus Prometheus / Grafana familiarity. Solid performance-engineering toolkit: load testing (JMeter, k6, Gatling or similar), profiling, capacity planning, and the analytical skill to interpret the results. Strong Linux and networking fundamentals (latency, throughput, connection pooling, DNS, load balancing). Python scripting for automation and analysis is strongly preferred. SRE concepts — SLIs / SLOs, error budgets, on-call discipline. Healthcare / regulated-environment experience and HIPAA awareness are a plus. Bachelor's in CS / IT or equivalent; Azure / AWS and CKA certifications valued.

Why this role in 2026

Quest Diagnostics is one of the world's largest diagnostic-information providers, and its platforms process the kind of healthcare volume where performance is not cosmetic — slow systems delay results that clinicians and patients depend on. A dedicated SRE II / performance-engineering seat is a focused, high-leverage role: you measurably make critical healthcare software faster and more reliable, you work across Azure and AWS with modern Kubernetes and Dynatrace tooling, and you build rare, marketable depth in performance engineering inside a stable, purpose-driven company.

Application tips

Apply directly via the Quest Diagnostics careers link below. Emphasise concrete performance and reliability outcomes — 'cut p99 latency by 40%', 'reduced cloud spend 25% via right-sizing without SLO regression', 'built a Dynatrace SLO dashboard adopted by 6 teams'. Make your Kubernetes resource-tuning and load-testing experience explicit, and mention any healthcare / HIPAA exposure prominently.

Interview preparation

Expect a recruiter screen, a technical screen on Kubernetes + performance fundamentals, a hands-on / scenario round (diagnose a latency regression from a Dynatrace trace, or right-size a workload and justify it), a system-design round (design a load-testing and capacity-planning programme for a healthcare API at peak), and a behavioural round. Practice talking through a real performance investigation end to end: hypothesis, measurement, fix, verification.

Career growth

Path: SRE II → Senior SRE / Performance Architect → Lead SRE or Performance Engineering Lead → SRE Manager. Performance-engineering depth is scarce and opens senior reliability and architecture roles across healthcare, BFSI and large product companies.

Company & benefits

INR 20-38 LPA band (market-rate estimate; confirmed at offer). Stable healthcare-industry employer with a hybrid setup in Hyderabad. Comprehensive health benefits for self + family, performance bonus, sponsored certifications, and professional-development support in a purpose-driven company.
