Responsibilities

Act as the primary operator and owner of production Amazon EKS Kubernetes clusters that power GE Vernova's global Grid Software SaaS — handling cluster provisioning, version upgrades, node-group management, capacity planning, and secure multi-tenancy across business units and customer environments. Build and maintain a reusable Terraform and Ansible module library for the full cloud estate — networking (VPC, subnets, peering, transit gateways), compute, storage, managed databases, message queues, caching layers and edge — versioned semantically and consumed by every product team through a self-service platform. Design and operate GitOps delivery (ArgoCD or Flux) with environment promotion through pull requests, ApplicationSets for fleet-scale rollouts, and progressive-delivery patterns (canary, blue-green) so that platform changes ship safely and are trivially auditable. Stand up and own the observability stack end to end — Prometheus and Grafana for metrics, Loki for logs, OpenTelemetry for distributed traces — and define meaningful SLIs and SLOs with product owners, then defend the resulting error budgets in planning. Run a rolling chaos-engineering and resilience-testing programme on non-production (and carefully on production) to prove that failover, autoscaling and self-healing actually work before a real incident exercises them. Automate toil aggressively: self-service namespace and environment vending, automated certificate and secret rotation, drift detection on the Terraform state, and runbook automation that turns manual incident steps into one-click or fully automated actions. Lead incident response and blameless post-mortems for platform-impacting events, drive the resulting action items to completion, and continuously raise the reliability bar for mission-critical energy-grid software where downtime has real-world consequences. Enforce security hardening and compliance appropriate to the energy sector — Pod Security standards, NetworkPolicy, OPA / Gatekeeper or Kyverno admission policies, IAM-roles-for-service-accounts for least-privilege workload identity, image signing and scanning — and bake these controls into the platform so product teams inherit them by default. Drive cost optimisation across AWS (and GCP where present): rightsizing, Savings Plans, Spot for fault-tolerant workloads, Graviton migration, and tag-based showback so each team sees and owns its spend. Mentor product and platform engineers on Kubernetes best practices, Terraform state management, and reliability-at-scale, and represent the Hyderabad platform team in global architecture-review boards.

Requirements & qualifications

5+ years in Site Reliability Engineering or Platform Engineering, including hands-on ownership of production Kubernetes (Amazon EKS strongly preferred) at meaningful scale — 50+ nodes, multiple namespaces and tenants, real upgrade and incident history. Terraform expert: authoring reusable modules, managing remote state per environment, running plan reviews for cost and security, and treating infrastructure changes with the same rigour as application code. Strong Ansible for configuration management of the VM-based estate that complements the container platform. Solid programming in Python and / or Go at automation-quality level — you build platform tooling, not just glue scripts. Deep observability experience: Prometheus, Grafana, Loki / Elastic, OpenTelemetry, and the discipline to define SLIs / SLOs and operate error budgets. GitOps fluency (ArgoCD or Flux), Helm packaging, and progressive-delivery patterns. Working AWS depth (VPC, IAM, EKS, S3, RDS, KMS, Secrets Manager, ALB / NLB); GCP exposure is a plus. Security-and-compliance awareness — admission control, workload identity, image signing, and the ability to operate in a regulated, safety-critical domain. Energy-sector or large-scale multi-tenant SaaS experience is a strong plus. AWS and CKA / CKAD certifications are valued. B.Tech / B.E. / M.Tech in CS / IT or equivalent.
