About the role

Cursor is looking for a hands-on Regional Director to lead and scale its Forward Deployed Engineering team in India across strategic enterprise accounts.

Responsibilities

<ul><li>Take engagements from technical discovery through executive sign-off with Sales and Account teams, including architecture reviews and precise scoping</li><li>Write and present proposals that turn unclear customer problems into time-boxed deliverables with clear return on investment</li><li>Act as executive technical sponsor on the region's top engagements and manage relationships from individual engineers up to the C-suite</li><li>Oversee delivery quality across the team: scoping, milestones, technical standards and handoffs to customer teams</li><li>Report product gaps and recurring customer friction to Product and Engineering with enough detail to shape the roadmap</li><li>Hire, coach and grow a team of 6 to 8 Forward Deployed Engineers and define performance standards and career paths</li><li>Build the partner FDE track by training and quality-checking GSI and consulting partners</li></ul>

Requirements & qualifications

<ul><li>8+ years leading technical teams that build and ship production software, for example in forward deployed or solutions engineering, where coding and code review are part of the job</li><li>Software development experience in Python and JavaScript/TypeScript</li><li>Hands-on experience building and owning AI-native workflows in production and debugging real model failures</li><li>Ability to assess a complex enterprise engineering environment quickly and scope the highest-impact engagement</li><li>A record of building and scaling individual-contributor technical teams with strong scoping and delivery standards</li></ul>

<p>This is a player-coach position: you lead people and revenue-critical engagements but are expected to stay close to the code. Few FDE leadership roles in India combine team building, executive selling and a partner enablement programme, so it offers broad scope for an experienced technical leader.</p>
